Packers Newcomer Fined $10K for Off-Day Commercial Shoot Before Colts Game
Green Bay, WI – August 16, 2025 –
The Green Bay Packers have fined a recent addition $10,000 after an off-day commercial appearance drew the attention of team officials just days before their preseason matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
According to sources, the penalty came after the player participated in a promotional shoot that conflicted with the organization’s expectations for rest and recovery during the critical pre-game window. While not a league violation, the Packers deemed it a lapse in discipline.
The move immediately sparked discussion inside the locker room about accountability, preparation, and the standards required in Green Bay. For a team emphasizing focus during every stage of game week, even small distractions are viewed seriously.
"When you wear the green and gold of the Packers, every decision you make must serve one purpose — victory. An off-day isn’t for chasing the spotlight, it’s for being ready to give everything on game day," Head Coach Matt LaFleur explained.
The player involved, Isaiah Simmons, signed with the Packers this offseason on a one-year, $1.337 million contract that includes $167,500 guaranteed. Expected to serve as a depth linebacker, he offers versatility as both a pass-rusher and special teams contributor.
Simmons, a former first-round pick in 2020, built his reputation as a hybrid linebacker-safety with the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants. His athleticism and positional flexibility were key factors in Green Bay’s decision to bring him in.
He did not see action in the preseason opener against the Jets, a move attributed either to strategy or rest. The organization, however, expects him to carve out a role as the exhibition slate progresses.
As the Packers prepare to face the Colts, Simmons will be under added scrutiny. Fans and coaches alike will
