Packers Rookie Benched for Disciplinary Violation — Hasn’t Played a Single Snap After Matt LaFleur’s Punishment
Green Bay, WI – October 25, 2025
The Green Bay Packers’ rookie defensive tackle, once hailed as a powerful addition to the defensive front, has yet to take a single snap this season — and head coach
For fans who expected to see the dominant former Georgia Bulldog anchoring the Packers’ defensive line, the news comes as a surprise. But according to LaFleur, this benching isn’t about ability — it’s about
“He’s got all the physical tools,” LaFleur said. “But here in Green Bay, effort, focus, and responsibility come before strength. You can’t win in this league if you’re not locked in mentally.”
The rookie in question is Nazir Stackhouse, a 6-foot-4, 326-pound defensive tackle out of Georgia, who signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2025

Stackhouse’s college career was nothing short of impressive. As a five-year Bulldog, he helped Georgia capture two national championships and recorded 96 tackles and 3 sacks, earning a reputation as one of the most physically imposing linemen in the SEC.
But his transition to the NFL has been rocky. Despite showing flashes of dominance in training camp, reports from team insiders suggest Stackhouse missed several practice assignments, arrived late to team meetings, and failed to follow detailed coaching instructions
LaFleur didn’t hold back when addressing the situation. “Discipline is what separates the pros from the prospects,” he said. “You can’t just rely on power — you have to understand the playbook, execute the calls, and respect the process. Around here, nothing is given.”
Stackhouse, who currently remains on the practice squad, was expected to compete for rotational snaps alongside Kenny Clark and T.J. Slaton. Instead, he’s now working under the guidance of defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery to rebuild trust and focus.
Known for battling through personal challenges — including a narcolepsy diagnosis during his college years — Stackhouse’s story has always been about resilience. The Packers are hoping that same determination will help him bounce back.
LaFleur ended his statement with a clear message: “He’s not out of our plans. But before he can play like a Packer, he has to think and prepare like one. Discipline first — playing time comes after.”
