Packers QB Jordan Love Honors 13-Year-Old Organ Donor Who Saved His Uncle’s Life
Green Bay, WI – October 2, 2025
Jordan Love has quickly become the face of the Green Bay Packers, carrying the weight of a franchise and the expectations of a storied fan base. But this week, he shared a story far greater than football.
The Packers quarterback revealed that his uncle was one of five people saved by the organ donation of Sanjay Samuel, the 13-year-old boy tragically killed in Queens. Samuel’s gift has given new life to families across the country.
Samuel’s heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, and kidneys were transplanted to patients in desperate need. For Love’s family, the miracle was personal — his uncle received a kidney, ending years of waiting and uncertainty.
“Words can’t describe how thankful I am to Sanjay’s family,” Love said with emotion. “In the middle of unimaginable pain, they chose to give life. My uncle is alive today because of their incredible courage.”
Love, admired for his perseverance and leadership since taking over in Green Bay, said the experience has changed his perspective. He pledged to honor Sanjay’s legacy by raising awareness for organ donation and supporting families in need.
The Packers organization has rallied around their quarterback, with coaches, teammates, and fans embracing his story. A tribute to Sanjay’s memory is expected during Green Bay’s next home game at Lambeau Field.
In Queens, Sanjay’s family expressed gratitude knowing their son’s spirit continues to live on. “He was a boy full of love,” his father said. “That love now lives on through the people he saved.”
For Jordan Love, it is a reminder that the greatest victories in life are not measured in touchdowns or trophies, but in the lives touched and saved. Sanjay’s gift will forever be part of his story.
