NFL Hands Down One-Game Equivalent Punishment to Eagles DT Jalen Carter After Spitting Incident
The NFL has officially announced disciplinary action against Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter following last week’s heated opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
According to league sources, Carter has been fined the equivalent of a one-game suspension after spitting on quarterback Dak Prescott. Instead of removing him from the lineup, the league converted the punishment into a financial penalty matching his weekly game check.
The NFL is fining #Eagles DT Jalen Carter one game check of $57,222 for spitting on Dak Prescott in last week’s opener, sources say.

“This decision reflects the league’s stance on protecting sportsmanship and integrity,” an NFL spokesperson said. “Conduct that disrespects players, coaches, fans, or the game itself will not be tolerated.”
The incident drew immediate outrage across the NFL, with fans and analysts calling the act “disrespectful” and demanding accountability. Clips of the confrontation circulated widely on social media, ensuring that Carter’s actions remained in the spotlight.
For the Eagles, the situation creates an unwanted distraction in the wake of their Week 1 victory. Carter was expected to be a key anchor on the defensive front this season, but now finds himself under scrutiny from both the league office and the public.
From the Cowboys’ perspective, teammates were quick to rally around Prescott after the announcement. Players and fans alike applauded the NFL for treating the incident as the equivalent of a suspension, setting what could become a precedent for non-football acts.
Carter, meanwhile, has yet to issue a public statement. Inside the Eagles locker room, the team has emphasized turning the page, but the fallout from the punishment will linger into Week 2 and beyond.
Whether this becomes a new model for NFL discipline remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the league has drawn a firm line when it comes to respect on the field.
Steelers Release Wide Receiver Despite Strong Preseason
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – August 26, 2025 – The Pittsburgh Steelers are deep into roster cuts as they shape their 53-man team before Tuesday’s league deadline. With competition fierce, some moves were expected — and others left fans surprised.
At wide receiver, the team entered preseason without a true Z option in the top group. Rookies Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III took most outside snaps, while Brandon Johnson and Ben Skowronek were pushed into second-unit roles.
That depth chart squeeze pushed others further down. A handful of receivers rotated on the third unit, battling for limited chances. One of them quietly stayed ready, waiting for an opportunity when injuries opened the door.
It was Lance McCutcheon who took advantage in the preseason finale against Carolina. Targeted four times, he caught three passes for 52 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown from Skylar Thompson — Pittsburgh’s only score of the night.
McCutcheon closed out preseason with five receptions for 66 yards, building momentum after spending part of 2024 on the practice squad. He re-signed in January on a futures deal, hoping to cement a spot in 2025.
Despite his late surge, the 6-foot-3 Montana native was among 14 players released Monday as the Steelers trimmed from 80 to 67. Another 14 cuts are due by Tuesday at 4 p.m. to finalize the roster.
