Detroit Lions Become First NFL Team to Launch 3-Year Player Transition Program

Detroit, MI – October 5, 2025
The Detroit Lions have made NFL history by becoming the first team to create a three-year transition program for players released or retiring from the league.
The initiative reflects the Lions’ growing focus on community and mental well-being — ensuring that players leaving football have access to resources, structure, and hope.
Eligible participants will receive monthly pay, job counseling, and mental health support. The program also offers educational scholarships and business mentorship to help players rebuild life after football.
General Manager Brad Holmes stated: “True grit isn’t just about surviving on the field. It’s about how you rise after the game ends — and we’ll rise together.”
Fans praised the move as a “turning point” for the franchise, proving Detroit’s new culture is rooted in empathy as much as toughness.
NFL insiders have credited Dan Campbell’s leadership for shaping a player-first environment that balances heart with discipline.
This initiative defines the new Lions: resilient, united, and built to last — on the field and beyond.

Well, Trump sure has to love that.
Coming into Sunday’s game against the slumping Commanders, Brown had 59 catches for 635 yards and seven touchdowns. Now up to eight TDs on the season, St. Brown has a chance to match or exceed the career-high total of 12 he recorded a year ago.
The Lions are in a three-way battle with the Chicago Bears (6-3) and Green Bay Packers (5-2-1) for the NFC North division crown. Detroit has one game remaining against each of their division rivals, including a Thanksgiving game with the Packers on Nov. 27.
